MOTHER & DAUGHTER TRAVEL THE WORLD

Our Travels

Years ago, after my divorce, my 13-year-old daughter Roxy and I made a pact. We decided to forego a few of life’s fleeting luxuries and use the savings to travel the world. I’d traveled globally for years in my business, but that wasn’t what I had in mind for Roxy. I sent her to great schools. Still, I thought, I needed to give her something no other school or educator could. Ten years later, Roxy and I have been to over 25 countries together, sampling the simple and the sumptuous in some of the world’s most fascinating places. And it has been an education for both of us—above all, in mother-daughter bonding. On the road, we have become each other’s best friends and through our blogs, we entwine locational and emotional journeys. The theme for each trip is redemption and transformation with travel as the catalyst. We write for mothers and daughters who want to experience life fully and chart a new path forward. Each trip we take is carefully curated. We stay in unique places, eat delicious food, and find engaging guides who bring depth to our experience. You’ll find links to these resources throughout our blogs so you can follow in our footsteps and live your best life, too.

Our Mother-Daughter Travels From Patagonia to Positano

Our Story

At the time when my marriage fell apart, I was a 50-year-old single mom. I wondered how I would raise my teenage daughter Roxy on my own, how I would build my business back up, do it all and do it well by myself. I was terrified of failing on all fronts.

I thought about how my father raised us, me and my sister Wendy.  I flipped through my best childhood memories and realized every happy snapshot my mind conjured up was on a summer road trip with Dad.  We loved the adventure and how he seemed to relax behind the wheel of his beloved Buick Riviera.

What I learned from those trips is that when you go away, you find yourself.  And when you travel with your children, you connect with them in the deepest way. There’s always something to talk about—the day’s events, what lies ahead, the history, customs, and politics of a place. Travel glues you and sews you together. Roxy and I have found it to be the rich wellspring of our relationship. Personally, it’s been my salvation.

Our blog is a continuing love story. It’s about the love that grows between Roxy and me as we travel the world.  Most of all, it’s about our journey together, from Utah’s Might Five Parks and Patagonia to China and Scandinavia--and everywhere in-between.  It flows from Roxy’s adolescence to her young adulthood.

And, like all true love stories, its spirit is endless.

Through our travels, we have become fearless, resilient, and wildly curious.  These are the stories of what we learned from each other--the places we visited, the food we ate, and how we healed our hearts in the most far-flung destinations, rich in beauty and bonding.
